Why bandages / sleeves made of fiber composite?
- Very high strength and stiffness with the lowest weight, enables a motor bandage for high speed ranges that cannot be achieved with metal bandages.
- Due to the lower thermal expansion, the preload is maintained by the sleeve. The engine does not lose power.
- Steel sleeves can generate «undesirable» eddy currents, which can negatively affect the performance of the motor.

Manufacturing technology of CFRP bandages & sleeves
The winding technology is ideally suited for the production of rotationally symmetrical bandages & sleeves. The endless carbon, glass or aramid fibers are CNC-controlled, soaked with resin and placed on a rotating tool mandrel. The wound tube is then cut to length according to customer specifications and further processed into the finished component by means of CNC grinding. The Connova Group works on 2 winding systems – with 4 programmable axes – which allow us to process components up to masses of 7m, max. Ø 1300 mm. We process over 100,000 components per year on our CNC-controlled grinding machines.
