The Connova Group presents itself at the JEC World 2026 in Paris
From March 10 to 12, 2026, the Paris Nord Villepinte exhibition center will once again
Composites and CFRP materials for sustainable ship propulsion systems, structural components and tanks
Over 20 years of experience in high-performance composites
Leader in filament-wound composite tanks for marine applications
Customised components for extreme requirements at sea
The Connova Group is actively shaping the future of sustainable shipping. With precisely manufactured composite components, we contribute to reducing emissions, increasing energy efficiency and integrating alternative propulsion technologies – whether in yachts, offshore platforms, ferries or special applications such as sonar domes and NH3 tanks.
Our lightweight, corrosion-resistant and highly resilient components are used where metallic materials reach their limits. Whether structural components, housings, tanks or panelling: We work with you to develop customised composite solutions for maritime requirements.
Maximum efficiency with low weight Our fibre-reinforced plastics (CFRP, GFRP, aramid) enable weight savings of up to 60% compared to conventional materials. This means lower fuel consumption, higher payloads and increased ranges. Connova composites offer decisive advantages, especially for superstructures, masts, deck panelling or special components in offshore facilities.
As part of the European research project NH3CRAFT, Connova is developing filament-wound composite pressurised tanks for storing green ammonia on ships. The tanks are characterised by high gravimetric efficiency (>90%), excellent corrosion resistance and scalable production. With polyamide inliners and GRP jackets, we are setting new standards for safe and sustainable maritime energy storage.
Our highly automated winding processes guarantee repeatable quality with maximum design freedom. Whether cylindrical pressure tanks, complex special components or structural components: With multi-layer, sensor-monitored production and CNC machining, we ensure precise results even under extreme requirements.
We develop and manufacture structural components, moulds, tools and prototypes for marine applications – from tank and energy components to load-bearing lightweight components in shipbuilding.
Our production processes are fully documented and 100% traceable. This enables maximum transparency and safety – especially for safety-critical applications such as pressurised tanks or offshore components.
Our quality standards are based on the strict requirements of aviation (EN 9100) – and set new benchmarks for the maritime sector.

CEO, Connova AG
Micha von Monkiewitsch has served as CEO of Connova AG since January 2023 and brings a rare combination of expertise to the composites industry. He holds a degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg and combines hands-on experience as a yacht project manager and marine surveyor with many years in the high-performance composites sector. Prior to joining Connova, he worked at Stefan Zucker & Partner GmbH in Hamburg as a yacht project manager and surveyor, followed by a position at Carbo-Link AG with a focus on yacht rigging as well as aerospace applications. After joining Connova in 2018, he established the company’s space project management activities, assumed operational responsibility as COO in 2021, and has led the company as CEO since 2023.
Why You Benefit from His Expertise:
“Marine applications leave no room for material weakness. Saltwater, UV exposure, vibration, and continuous loading over many years are everyday realities, not worst-case scenarios. We develop every marine component as engineers who understand the marine environment from the keel to the masthead, not just the laminate design.”
— Micha von Monkiewitsch, CEO, Connova AG
Connova is an industrial partner in the EU NH3CRAFT project to develop safe ammonia storage tanks for the marine sector. Together with 12 partners from research and industry, a scalable tank concept was developed with:
PA6 inliner & GRP winding structure
Production via two-stage filament winding
Pressure resistance > 60 bar
Security factor > 5
Successful hydrostatic & burst pressure test
Die Tanks werden 2025 an Bord eines Testschiffes unter Realbedingungen validiert. Ziel: Approval in Principle (AiP) für maritime Composite-Tanks.
With comprehensive expertise from decades of experience in lightweight construction for the aviation industry, we are perfectly positioned to realise your concepts. We invite you to a professional consultation in which we will explore how we could act as your future partner. This consultation is of course non-binding and free of charge.
