Since June 2022, Connova Deutschland GmbH as part of the Connova Group has been a crucial partner in the NH3CRAFT project, dedicated to developing and manufacturing innovative composite tanks for ammonia storage. This initiative aims to establish safer, more efficient and economically attractive solutions for the transport and storage of ammonia on ships.
The NH3CRAFT project is part of a strategic endeavour to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50% by 2050, in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement. The project focuses on a new design methodology that should enable the storage of 1,000 m³ of ammonia under a pressure of 10 bar, initially demonstrated on a ship with a carrying capacity of 31,000 tonnes.
The expertise of Connova Deutschland GmbH as part of the Connova Group in composite materials is crucial for the further development of these storage solutions, supports the transition of the shipping industry to greener technologies and strengthens Europe’s competitiveness in the global maritime sector.
